🦃 "Pavo!" – A Thanksgiving Twist on Spanish Conversation!

🦃 "Pavo!" – A Thanksgiving Twist on Spanish Conversation!

In modern world language teaching, the term "rejoinders" refers to short, memorized social expressions or "chunks" of language that help students maintain a great conversational flow. 🗣️ These function as conversational "grease the wheels" expressions, such as “Me, too!”, "That's cool," "Interesting," or "I don't understand."

In second grade Spanish class, students created a colorful visual list of seven things they are thankful for and then shared their work in partner conversations. 📝 During their discussions, they practiced using the rejoinder “Me, too!” whenever they found something in common with their partner. 🤝

As a playful Thanksgiving twist, students could substitute “Me, too!” with the Spanish word for turkey—“pavo”—accompanied by a small jump as they said it! 🦃✨ This activity allowed students to engage physically while using Spanish in a fun and memorable way. ¡Qué fantástico!
