Measuring Hearts and Stars: A Journey Through Kindness, Math, and Space! ✨🔭

First grade has been buzzing with learning and kindness! As we gear up for Kindness Week, students designed their own team kindness jerseys and worked together to create kindness rules that show how we can support and encourage one another every day. We talked about being teammates who use kind words, help others, and include everyone.

In math, we’ve been exploring measurement in hands-on ways. Students built a Gallon Guy to better understand capacity and compared weights by creating a fun teeter-totter showing items that are lighter or heavier than themselves. These activities helped make big math ideas meaningful and memorable!

We also enjoyed our second field trip of the year—an exciting visit to the planetarium! Students were amazed as they learned about the stars, planets, and space, connecting science learning to a real-world experience.

As we head into this week, we are excited to celebrate love, friendship, and kindness—and to continue practicing these important skills both in and out of the classroom. 💫💕
