When Ms. Punu’s 5th grade class completed reading Granny Torrelli Makes Soup by Sharon Creech, they celebrated by making homemade (classroom made!) soup. Granny Torrelli Makes Soup tells the story of how relationships can change. Granny Torrelli helps her granddaughter Rosie and her best friend Bailey understand the changing dynamics of friendship by sharing her own memories and experiences of friendship and loyalty from her childhood, all while making soup together. We loved making this soup together and can now hold it as a treasured memory of our times together.
