The aim of our science lab is to get our students excited about science, by providing an opportunity to engage in various investigations and conduct experiments related to the learning in the classroom. This hands on component to our science curriculum enhances our student's understanding of the concepts they are learning. Our science specialist works alongside our classroom teachers to create lessons that support the grade-level science curriculum. Our goal is to foster a better understanding of key concepts and increase your child's ability to "think like a scientist."

Our technology program provides our students with the tools they need to be 21st century learners.

The technology skills students gain now will forever give them an edge when it comes to communication and creativity. The quality of the educational software that is available to children in primary school is at an all time high. Whether it's typing programs or multimedia presentation software, these skills will forever give them the upper hand in a competitive technology based world.

From kindergarten on up through fifth grade, the children will gain a variety of technology skills:

Coding

Our students (K-5) will be able to explore the limitless world of computing using Code.org’s computer science fundamentals curriculum. The four courses are designed to blend online, self-guided, and self-paced tutorials. The inclusion of “unplugged” activities are also a great way to learn and require no computer at all.

My approach has always been holistic using fun, joy, and creativity to inspire students to open up to learning the fundamentals of vocal expression and music.

Students will be engaged with the magical sounds and movements of music, while continuing to go deeper into the concepts and fundamentals of music.

Kindergarteners will be introduced to new instruments, rhythms and movements. Grades one and two will review games, rhythmic patterns and basic music notation, and grades three through five will review reading music, recorder technique and recorder pieces.

In all our classes we will save time for singing songs we've learned and introducing new ones, including fun seasonal tunes.

Spanish (Kindergarten Through 5th Grade)

Learning other languages and understanding the culture of the people who speak them is a 21st century skill that is vital to success in the global environment in which our students will live and work.

The goal of our Spanish Program is to provide students with as many opportunities as possible to learn and practice important 21^st century skills:

Language and communication are at the heart of the human experience! Incorporated into the Spanish curriculum are art, music, technology, movement, games, food, literature and culture.

Language learning should be a collaborative effort between the teacher and the students, and more importantly between the students themselves. Students will explore Spanish and learn about the people who speak this beautiful language and the places where it is spoken.

The goal of the MMBOA Physical Education Program is to develop individuals who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.

By participating in skill developing activities, our students have the opportunity to:

• Improve motor skills, hand-eye coordination and reflexes in a safe environment
• Develop interpersonal skills through teamwork and sportsmanship
• Set challenging yet achievable goals
