Social and Emotional Learning

There is no separation of mind and emotions; emotions, thinking, and learning are all linked.     — Eric Jensen

Our social and emotional learning program is based on the idea that the best learning takes place in a nurturing environment with supportive teachers where learning is challenging, engaging, and meaningful.

Our program provides our students with the skills needed to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. Research shows that social and emotional skills are critical to being a good student, citizen, and worker.

Using the Second Step Curriculum, our students engage in lessons to develop:

  • Skills for learning

  • Empathy

  • Emotion Management

  • Friendship Skills and Problem Solving
