Preschool Program

Merry Moppet Preschool has developed a proven readiness curriculum for children ages two through five, which prepares children for a successful elementary experience. Our approach to teaching emphasizes social, emotional, intellectual and physical growth and provides each child with the right balance of challenge, support, encouragement and stimulation. Our developmentally responsive learning environment provides engaging and rich experiences in interacting and learning with others. Each of our preschool classrooms and outdoor play facilities are thoughtfully designed for our youngest learners to play, grow and learn as independently as possible.

Age and developmentally appropriate curriculum is carefully created to include a balance of structured teacher-directed and child-initiated learning experiences. In a small group format, children learn to take turns, share and follow simple instructions. As our readiness program advances, our Pre-K students will develop strong foundational skills in letter sound association, printing, early literacy, and mathematics.  Additional components within the program include self-expression through art, movement, music and creative play.

Our teachers are carefully selected not only for their training in Early Childhood Education, but also for their warmth and sensitivity to the needs of young children. Keeping teacher to student ratios small is important to us. Each of our preschool classrooms is staffed with a head teacher and two assistant teachers who remain with your child all day.
