- Math: Master fundamental addition and subtraction concepts, explore place value, multiplication, fractions, geometry, and develop problem-solving skills.
- Language Arts: further develop essential reading, writing, and grammar skills through phonics, comprehension, and creative writing.
- Science: Explore the natural world of life science, earth and physical science through hands-on experiments and investigations.

Exploration of the Spanish language and the culture of Mexico and Argentina. Thematic units explore school communities, apples and leaves, dental health, penguins, our bodies and how we move, describing a snowman, the five senses, and life on a farm. Thematic units include songs, stories, conversational activities, movement, poetry, games and manipulatives.

2nd Grade: Expanding Horizons

- Math: Advance student understanding of math concepts like place value, addition and subtraction with/without regrouping, multiplication and division facts, and fractions. Explore statistics, probability, measurement, and time-telling through engaging activities and problem-solving strategies.
- Language Arts: Hone their reading comprehension skills through reading of short stories and chapter books. Develop strong writing skills through story mapping, creative writing, daily journaling, formal paragraphs, and poetry. Master D'Nealian handwriting and transition to beautiful, legible cursive.
- Social Studies: Dive deeper into the history of their community and the contributions of diverse individuals. Develop map skills and geographical knowledge through interactive activities. Stay informed about current events with weekly Scholastic and Time for Kids magazines.
